Citizen Observer ~ The Leader In Community Policing Alert Tools

Sherman Police Department
Citizen Observer

What is Citizen Observer

Citizen Observer is a new, internet-based tool being used by the Sherman Police Department to enhance communications with citizens and local businesses.

Citizen Observer enables the police department to broadcast information to all subscribers via text message or email. Becoming a citizen observer enables you to receive alerts that inform you of crimes or criminals within our community. If you have information regarding the crime or criminal, you can anonymously send information to the police.

Traditionally, police could only disseminate information to the public during the local newscast at noon, 6 p.m., or 10 p.m. With Citizen Observer, information may be broadcast to the public faster. Our goal is that faster dissemination of information may enable citizens and businesses to avoid becoming a victim.

How Does This Program Help

  • Businesses can learn about things such as counterfeit money being circulated within our community and know not to accept it.
  • Citizens can learn about criminals being sought by the police and join in the hunt by keeping a watchful eye and informing the police if they see the criminal.

Why subscribe to Citizen Observer

  • IT'S FREE.
  • Receive alerts from the police regarding current crimes, sought after suspects, etc.
  • With information received from the police, citizens and businesses may avoid becoming a victim.
  • Become involved by watching for suspects or vehicles listed in the alerts and informing police.
  • You can anonymously provide information to the police regarding the crime, suspect, or vehicles listed in the alerts.
