- By the date of the examination, applicants must be:
- Between the ages of 21 and 44 years of age.
- Must possess a High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certification;
- Must have a valid and current Motor Vehicle Operator's License;
- Must be able to read and write English;
- Must be free of disease or physical and/or mental defect that would in any manner interfere with the applicant performing the duties of a Police Officer;
- Must have eyesight that is correctable to 20/20 in each eye, and 20/70 uncorrected; (Colorblindness is a disqualifying condition);
- Must have normal hearing ability free from hearing impairment;
- Must meet all legal requirements necessary to become eligible for future licensing by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE).
Applicants must be able to meet the Department’s Policy and
Procedures with reference to jewelry/body modifications/tattoos, and more
specifically as follows:
2.06.VIII.E.3 While on duty, male members shall not
wear any jewelry in a body piercing or have any other body modifications,
exposed or visible (including through the uniform)…
2.06.VIII.F.2b While on duty, members must be able to
wear short sleeve shirts without displaying tattoos, brands, or any other body
modification. Members with tattoos on their legs are required to wear long
uniform pants at all times while on duty. |
